For those who dream of standing at Everest Base Camp but lack the time or physical ability for the two-week trek, the Everest Helicopter Tour offers an extraordinary alternative. In just a few hours, you'll fly into the heart of the Himalayas and land at one of the most iconic locations on Earth.
Departing from Kathmandu, the helicopter follows the classic Everest trekking route from above — flying over Lukla's famous airstrip, the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar and Tengboche, and into the Khumbu Valley. The climax is a landing at Kala Patthar (5,545m) or Everest Base Camp (5,364m), where you'll have time to take photos with Everest looming above.
This is luxury travel at its finest — experiencing one of the world's great adventures without the physical demands of high-altitude trekking. It's perfect for those with limited time, physical constraints, or simply those who want the exclusive experience that helicopter access provides.
Group Sharing Tour (~$1,200/person): Join 4-5 other guests for a shared helicopter experience. Same route and landing as private tours, but more economical. Departures available daily during peak season when groups form.
Private Charter (~$4,500-5,500 total): Exclusive use of the helicopter for your group (up to 5 passengers). Flexible timing and the option to customize your route or add stops. Perfect for families or special occasions.
Everest View Hotel Breakfast (~$1,500/person): An enhanced experience that includes breakfast at the legendary Everest View Hotel (3,880m) in Syangboche before continuing to Base Camp. The world's highest-altitude hotel with panoramic Himalayan views.

Autumn (October-November): The optimal season for Everest helicopter tours. Post-monsoon skies are crystal clear, offering the best visibility of Everest and the surrounding peaks. Stable weather means fewer cancellations.
Spring (March-May): Another excellent period with good visibility and longer days. This is climbing season at Everest, so you may see expedition camps at Base Camp. Slightly warmer than autumn.
Winter (December-February): Cold but often clear. Snow-covered peaks are spectacular, but temperatures at altitude are extremely low. Morning flights have the best conditions before afternoon clouds build.
Monsoon (June-September): Not recommended. Clouds, rain, and poor visibility make flights unreliable. Most tours are cancelled or significantly delayed during monsoon months.
We collect you from your Kathmandu hotel and transfer you to the domestic terminal at Tribhuvan International Airport. Early departure ensures the best flying conditions.
After a brief safety briefing, board your helicopter (typically an Airbus AS350 B3/B2). Take off and head east, following the valleys toward the Everest region.
Fly over Lukla, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche Monastery. The pilot provides commentary on landmarks. Window seats rotate so everyone gets the best views.
Touch down at 5,545m (Kala Patthar) or 5,364m (Base Camp). Spend 15-20 minutes taking photos with Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse towering above you. Breathtaking and surreal.
On extended tours, descend to Syangboche for breakfast at the world's highest hotel. Enjoy champagne and mountain views before returning to Kathmandu.
Fly back via a scenic route, landing at the domestic terminal. Transfer back to your hotel by 10:00-11:00 AM — you'll still have most of the day ahead!
The ground time at high altitude is brief (15-20 minutes), which minimizes altitude sickness risk. However, some people may experience mild symptoms like shortness of breath or headache. The helicopter is pressurized during flight.
Helicopter operators in Nepal are experienced in high-altitude mountain flying. We only partner with operators that have excellent safety records and well-maintained aircraft. Flights only proceed when weather conditions are suitable.
Weather is the determining factor. If conditions are unsuitable, flights are rescheduled (usually to the next day) or refunded if rescheduling isn't possible. We recommend booking this experience with flexible travel plans.
Dress warmly in layers — it's very cold at altitude. Bring a down jacket, warm hat, gloves, and sunglasses. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are essential for the landing site.
Absolutely! Bring your best camera with fully charged batteries (cold affects battery life). GoPros, smartphones, and DSLRs all work well. The helicopter has large windows designed for photography.
